Preparing your turkey is essential for a delightful Thanksgiving feast. Follow these steps:
- Thaw the turkey in the refrigerator for 24 hours for every 4-5 pounds if frozen.
- Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C).
- Remove the turkey giblets and pat the bird dry with paper towels.
- Season the cavity generously with salt and pepper.

- Gently loosen the skin on the turkey breast and spread half of the herb butter underneath. Rub the remaining butter on the skin.
- If using stuffing, fill the cavity loosely with the prepared stuffing.
Cooking Instructions
Now that you’ve prepared your turkey, it’s time to cook it:
- Place the turkey breast-side up on a roasting pan.
- Cover it with aluminum foil and roast for approximately 13-15 minutes per pound.
- Remove the foil during the last hour to allow the skin to brown. Baste with broth every 30 minutes.
- The turkey is done when its internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C) in the thickest part of the thigh.
Let the turkey rest for at least 20 minutes before carving. Enjoy your delicious, perfectly roasted Thanksgiving turkey!
